The "MyObservatory" is a popular weather mobile app that offers personalized weather services. It provides users with current weather information such as temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind direction, and speed. Users can view weather photographs collected from nearby weather stations at their location, a specified location, or selected weather stations. The app updates weather photos every minutes and rainfall data every minutes. Other data is updated every minutes, and the update time is displayed on the front page. Users can choose to use the automatic location service provided by their smartphone or manually designate their location on the map. The meteorological data displayed on the app is provided by nearby weather stations and may not necessarily be from the same region. If data is not available from nearby stations, data from other meteorological stations will be used instead. The app also provides notification services for weather warnings and forecasts, but the Hong Kong Observatory cannot guarantee the successful or timely reception of push notifications. Users should not rely solely on the app for important weather information. While the "MyObservatory" app is free to use, users may be charged by their mobile network service provider for data usage. These charges can be expensive when roaming, so users are advised to disable data roaming in their device settings. It's important to note that due to differences in topography and altitude between the weather station and the user's location, as well as errors in the estimated position given by the mobile device, the weather information displayed on the app may differ from the actual conditions. The app also provides a link for users to browse the Hong Kong Observatory's Facebook Page. Users can log in to their own Facebook account and access additional features. However, users are reminded to pay attention to the notes on the Facebook Page and the privacy policies of the Facebook platform.
